Barney’s and Disney presents: Electric Holiday
At long last, today Barneys released its windows for the 2012 holiday season. The display, called Electric Holiday, revolves around the fusion of fashion world greats like Naomi Campbell and Mario Sorrenti with Disney World greats like Minnie and Daisy.
There was a surprising amount of controversy (for what basically amounts to a window display) in the weeks leading up to the display’s reveal due to concept art that depicted Minnie as a rail-thin high-fashion model. I wasn’t pleased with the idea, either—though I didn’t go so far as to start a change.org petition about it—so I was apprehensive about the ways in which the so-called Skinny Minnie image would be used.
