CHRISTMAS RULE BREAKER!
Disney announced in September 2009 that over the next four years, it would completely overhaul the Fantasyland section of Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Resort. Many of these changes have already been opened to the public, but there are more planned for the next few years as well.
Disney’s website has a Flash tour of the new features, complete with a storyline of its own and a mini-game. Although the plot is more suited to a younger set, I’d recommend looking at the website for the visuals—including detailed illustrations of the new park features and photographs of the real thing—as well as bits of life advice like “the greatness of a man has nothing to do with his biceps,” which, naturally, is offered in reference to Gaston.
Of course, many Fantasyland favorites remained open and unchanged during the entire expansion, such as It’s a Small World, Cinderella Castle, Peter Pan’s Flight, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and the Mad Tea Party.
If you haven’t had a chance to get to the parks since Fantasyland went under the knife, here’s your guide to what’s new now and what’s coming soon!
